TITLE:  Youth Pastor

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:  Reports to Youth Ministries Pastor

PURPOSE:  The Youth Pastor is responsible for creating and managing ministries, programs and events related to 5-8th grade ministry and community outreach. This position will facilitate community partnerships and opportunities for local outreach ministries. In addition, he will create a ministry environment where students (5th-8th grade) and their families grow in being disciples of Christ who love God, love His Church and show His love to the world.  This is a dual role with 70% of the time being spent on Youth Ministries and 30% on Outreach.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Demonstrates spiritual maturity (Colossians 2:6-7) and meets the qualifications of an elder (1 Timothy. 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9)
  2. Possess a servant’s heart (Mark 10:42-45), be teachable and humble (Philippians 2:3-7)
  3. Spend daily and structured time with God exercising the spiritual disciplines (reading Scripture, prayer, worship, etc.)
  4. Prioritize personal spiritual growth, purity, financial stewardship, and marriage
  5. Be in full agreement with the purpose and doctrinal statements of Shiloh Community Church
  6. Become a member in good standing of an evangelical church and be willing to become a member of Shiloh Community Church upon hire
  7. Demonstrate an ability to work well with others in a team environment and communicate well with others when working alone
  8. Be a ministry builder with skills in recruiting, developing, evaluating and encouraging ministry leaders
  9. Demonstrate strong administrative and relational skills consistent with the role of a pastor
  10. Have a high level of drive, creativity, and excellence in leadership to develop and carry out the vision of community outreach and middle high ministry
  11. A master’s degree in ministry and/or 3+ years of experience is preferred
  12. Musically proficient and able to assist in leading worship is a plus

GENERAL DUTIES FOR YOUTH MINISTRY:

  1. Create and maintain a fun, safe, clean and age-appropriate ministry environment for all ministry activities and events involving students 5-8th grade
  2. Ensure that students and their families have the opportunity to hear and respond to the Gospel
  3. Oversee and develop a vibrant ministry team to serve 5-8th grade ministries
  4. Develop Biblical lessons for Sunday morning and Wednesday evening classes in accordance with the current sermon series and the Shiloh Community Church Statement of Faith
  5. Coordinate with the Care Pastor to plan and assist in counseling, hospital visits, and general care for families involved in 5-8th grade Ministry
  6. Initiate and develop ministry activities, events and programs that help students and their families take the next step in their journey with God
  7. Communicate regularly with parents
  8. Prepare and maintain an annual budget for Youth Ministry

GENERAL DUTIES FOR OUTREACH MINISTRY:

  1. Faithfully shepherd, love, and model Jesus Christ at Shiloh and in the community.
  2. Utilizing the church strategic ministry plan and Outreach Workgroup, develop and manage a strategic approach to community outreach within the context of the Phoenix metropolitan area.
  3. Develop and maintain community partnerships.
  4. Plan, organize, and execute community-oriented events and ministry opportunities that reach, evangelize, and bring the un-connected and un-churched individuals to Shiloh Community Church.
  5. Recruit, equip, and mobilize volunteers for outreach
  6. Work with the Communications Department to ensure clear and effective communication regarding community outreach
  7. Work with the Worship and Missions Pastor to identify opportunities for expanding local outreach utilizing lessons learned from Reach Global and supported missionary organizations
  8. Prepare and maintain an annual budget for outreach ministry

TERM This is a full-time, ongoing position. In general, fulfilling the time commitment of this role will include time in the office, Sunday morning responsibilities, mid-week evening activities and events, and other meetings. An outcome-based performance appraisal will be conducted following the first 3 months of employment. Annual performance appraisals will be conducted thereafter.
