POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Senior Pastor
Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Pastor who will provide spiritual leadership, vision, and guidance to the church community of Wayside Baptist Church in Miami, FL with a congregation of about 300. The elected candidate will be an effective communicator, able to clearly articulate the church's vision, mission, and values to diverse audiences, including congregation members, staff, and community leaders. He will possess excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to preach, teach, and inspire our congregation to deepen their faith and live out their calling.
Responsibilities:
- Spiritual Leadership:
- Encourage and equip lay ministry teams and congregation members to fulfill the church's goals and vision.
- Preach, teach, and shepherd the congregation through weekly services and other opportunities.
- Administrative Leadership:
- Oversee and collaborate with staff and volunteer teams to facilitate weekly worship services and other church ministries.
- Ensure effective use of resources and alignment with the church's vision and mission.
- Oversee and meet with ministry teams for the purposes of managing funds and the church budget.
- Staff Leadership:
- Lead and develop ministerial staff, deacons, and team leaders to achieve their goals and objectives.
- Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and growth.
- Pastoral Care:
- Provide shepherding needs to the church body, including counseling, weddings, funerals, and other pastoral duties.
- Compliance and Governance:
- Ensure compliance with church bylaws and denominational organizations.
Characteristics and Qualifications:
- Personal:
- Testimony of a saving faith in Jesus Christ and a vibrant relationship with Him.
- Faithful commitment to Biblical principles and Scriptural qualifications (1 Timothy 3:1-8).
- Leadership:
- Passion for engaging and discipling people in the local community and beyond.
- Ability to discern and deliver Biblical truth in a culturally relevant way.
- Dynamic communication and leadership skills to cast vision and shape church culture.
- Education and Experience:
- Master of Divinity degree or its equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of 5-10 years of pastoral leadership experience.
- Minimum of 3 years experience leading a team of employees within a ministry setting.
Effective Communication:
- Clearly articulate the church's vision, mission, and values
- Communicate complex spiritual concepts in simple terms
- Craft compelling content for various audiences
- Actively listen and respond thoughtfully to feedback and concerns
- Build relationships and trust with diverse individuals and groups
