About New Life and Next Gen Ministries

At New Life Church, we see God’s design for the church to be a Christ-led, growing, loving force. We are called to metro Atlanta to be this type of church through action that compels and equips people to become all that God has called them to be. In short: we are called to transform the world around us by following Christ, growing in community, and loving others. In other words, to be the church.

Our Next Gen Ministries are designed to minister to youth ages 2-19. Through intentional and hands-on programming, the Next Gen ministries are a home base for building relationships with young people that strengthen their commitment to the church and foster a growing faith in Jesus Christ. Five specific ministry opportunities are available for young people at New Life: Baby Village Nursery (ages 6 months-2), Toddler Town (ages 2-4), Kidz Citi (ages 5-12), AMPED (grades 6-8), and Pulse (grades 9-12). We strive to touch the lives of young people both within our church family and throughout metro Atlanta – creating a Christ-centered community that supports them through all stages of life.

About the Position

As our Next Gen minister, you should demonstrate a strong personal faith in Jesus Christ with a passion to share that faith through ministry to young people. We are looking for a driven individual who is on a journey of continuous growth – spiritually, attitudinally, and vocationally. Along that journey, you are excited to direct and lead programming for early learners, elementary, middle school, and high school-aged youth at New Life. You should be ready to help take our Next Gen ministries to new heights as we reach young people for Christ and set the foundation for their lifelong commitment to being active and enthusiastic church members.

As a ministry leader and role model, you will develop a comprehensive approach to youth ministry, including the areas of discipleship, worship, relationship building, mission, and outreach. You are collaborative and focused on relationships. You are ready and willing to partner with other church leaders, staff members, teachers and volunteers at New Life and beyond to build a vibrant, thriving youth ministry and to help you grow as an individual leader.

Specific responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide leadership for and function as the primary staff person relating to the Next Gen ministries/youth department at New Life, including operational oversight and ministry direction.
  • Lead the planning and implementation of age-appropriate activities for youth of all grade levels that promote faith and character development, as well as personal and spiritual growth, such as worship services, concerts and musicals, dramatic presentations, group bible studies, retreats, outreach, and mission service projects.
  • Coordinate the activities of all Next Gen ministries—Nursery, Toddler Town, Kidz Citi, AMPED, and Pulse—and oversee the department's general scope and vision.
  • Plan and coordinate annual or biennial Next Gen mission trips, either locally, domestically, or internationally.
  • Serve as a regular participant of the worshiping community of New Life Church and its youth worship activities.
  • Lead the Next Gen ministries in developing an itemized annual budget.
  • Coordinate fundraising opportunities that support special youth activities and trips.
  • Develop a comprehensive plan to recruit, train, and maintain a solid volunteer base.
  • Participate in personal growth and development activities by attending local, regional, or national training.
  • Visit other ministry models to assess best practices and acquire new ideas and broader thinking about youth worship and other youth ministry activities.
  • Coordinate or provide leadership for special projects as assigned by the senior pastor.

If your passion and drive align with our vision for the Next Gen minister, we invite you to dive deeper into the qualifications for this position. The ideal candidate will meet the following administrative and ministry experience requirements:

  • A personal and public profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in education, Christian ministry, biblical studies, or related field.
  • A minimum of five years of administrative and/or corporate organizational experience in a leading or growing company.
  • Demonstrated experience and confidence in working closely under a company executive or senior pastor.
  • Solid and capable communication skills that include interpersonal, verbal, and written skills.
  • The ability to represent the core values of New Life Church, the senior pastor, and the Next Gen ministries to the church body and the greater community.
  • The ability to lead a department of staff and volunteers toward a common goal.
  • The ability to develop and maintain an expense budget, as well as a calendar of events.
  • The ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality in regard to all privileged information.
  • Competent organizational and administrative abilities, including proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Availability to support the senior pastor and attend significant New Life events.
  • Availability to attend evening and weekend meetings and work extended hours, as needed.
  • Availability for light travel to conferences and off-site trainings or meetings.
  • An active and participating member of a local church under the doctrinal guidelines of the mainline Protestant church for at least two years. (eligibility under this provision is determined solely by the senior pastor)
