Senior Pastor:
Joplin First Church, a Methodist congregation, in Joplin, Missouri is seeking a full-time Senior Pastor. For over 150 years - since 1873 - Joplin First Church has been serving Joplin and our surrounding communities. We have two Sunday services - a traditional service and a more contemporary service. Our ministry staff also includes a Director of Family Ministries, a Worship Leader and 2 office staff.
Core Responsibilities:
- Lead, equip, and grow the church to glorify God.
- Act as primary preacher each Sunday for both 9:00am and 11:00am services.
- Serve as the senior administrator of the church and staff to ensure their smooth function.
- Serve as primary officiant for church functions and services such as communion, baptism, weddings, confirmations, and funerals.
- Provide pastoral care for the congregation.
Key requirements:
- Devoted to the Lord and His word.
- Above reproach in the way that they walk with the Lord, manage their household, their relationships, and the way they live.
- Preferred graduate of an accredited seminary with a Master of Divinity with 5+ years of pastoral experience and/or extraordinary achievements.
- Personable and engaging with individuals and families from all ages and backgrounds.
- Effective communicator and administrator. Able to delegate tasks to staff, committees, and other leaders of the church effectively.
- Computer literacy preferred: Microsoft Office, email, online meeting platforms such as Zoom or Go To Meeting.
